Real Dragon Nose Correction Case: Reducing Nostril Show and Refining the Nose Line

Kowon Plastic Surgery shares a real dragon nose correction case in which a dorsal hump and drooping tip were refined, reducing nostril show for a smoother, more natural profile.

Dragon nose correction before/after: hump and drooping tip (left) vs a sleek nose line (right). Title: less nostril show, refined line.

Hello, this is Director Kim Hyung-taek of Kowon Plastic Surgery Clinic.

This patient had a hump protruding from the center of the nasal dorsum, which made the line uneven. On top of that, the nasal tip drooped noticeably downward, a shape that called for dragon nose correction. As a result, the overall impression looked somewhat harsh and shadowed.

Many men don't mind a bump on the nasal dorsum much, but many women struggle emotionally because a raised dorsum can make them look like a witch or give off a sharp, severe impression.

In addition, we identified that the direction the nasal tip points and the nasolabial angle made the nostrils stand out noticeably when viewed from the front.

“Simply shaving down the protruding dorsum doesn't solve the problem. The angle of the nasal tip and the overall curve need to be refined together so the whole face looks more harmonious.”

So we neatly refined the protruding hump and tidied up the nasal bridge. Then, for the drooping tip, we applied cartilage repositioning and cartilage tying to lift it slightly, which softened the heavy mood considerably.

We also placed a sturdy strut between the cartilages to add structural stability, so the tip won't sink again over time.

By carefully settling the angles running from the columella to the nasolabial angle and the philtrum, we reduced the wide-open look of the nostrils and guided the line to look natural and fluid from every angle.

In particular, the flow from the bridge down to the tip was completed very smoothly.

“A hump-type nose generally has a high bridge, so the tip needs to be lifted enough to match that height in order to look natural. That makes the support from underneath the key.”

When the bridge already has a solid foundation like this, firmly supporting the tip is the key. Through dragon nose correction, we were able to shape a refined, three-dimensional line without it looking exaggerated.

This patient also had an uneven flow along the nasal dorsum and a tip drooping downward, which made the overall impression look somewhat heavy and stifling.

This called for dragon nose correction that would define the nasal bridge line more clearly while restoring the angle of the sagging tip.

To improve the heavy-looking proportions, we refined the height of the bridge so it harmonizes with the other facial features, while delicately lifting the drooping tip cartilage.

At the same time, we added support so the tip stays stable over time, and refined the nasolabial angle to carefully address nostril show as well.

As a result, the tip that had dropped down found its proper position, naturally easing the prominent look of the nostrils. The line running from the bridge to the tip now looks more three-dimensional and smooth from both the front and the side.

At Kowon Plastic Surgery, we take a comprehensive approach, considering everything from where the bridge begins to the direction of the nasal tip, to create a natural, soft transformation that looks good from every angle.

[A Word from the Director]

When a hump and a drooping tip appear together, the goal goes beyond simply smoothing the protruding dorsum.

The key is to correct both the support and the angle of the nasal tip.

Especially when the bridge already has a solid base, it's important to build sturdy support so the tip doesn't sink downward. Only then can you achieve a natural line where the flow stays uninterrupted from both the front and the side.

“The most important thing in plastic surgery is not dramatic change, but securing three-dimensionality and structural stability at the same time, in harmony with the overall flow of your own face.”

At Kowon Plastic Surgery, we carefully analyze each patient's cartilage strength and the skeletal structure of the bridge. This allows us to create a refined line that stays unchanged over time, even in high-difficulty cases like dragon nose correction. Going forward, we promise meticulous, customized designs that bring out each person's unique charm while satisfying both three-dimensionality and stability.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is dragon nose correction needed?

It is described as a procedure needed when a hump rising from the center of the nasal dorsum appears together with a tip that droops downward. The director explains that each patient's cartilage strength and nasal bridge skeletal structure differ, so each case is analyzed precisely.

What causes the nostrils to look prominent?

The nostrils are explained to look prominent from the front due to the direction the nasal tip points and the nasolabial angle. The director says that shaving down only the protruding dorsum is not enough, and that the angle of the tip and the overall curve must be refined together.

What method was used to lift the nasal tip?

The drooping tip was lifted slightly using cartilage repositioning and cartilage tying. A strut was placed between the cartilages to add structural stability so the tip won't sink again over time.

How is a hump combined with a drooping tip approached?

The director explains that the approach is to correct both the support and the angle of the nasal tip. The emphasis is not only on smoothing the protruding dorsum but also on keeping the flow from the bridge to the tip uninterrupted from both the front and the side.

What kind of results does the clinic aim for?

The clinic places importance on securing three-dimensionality and structural stability that blend with the flow of the entire face, rather than dramatic change. It also mentions aiming for meticulous, customized designs that bring out each person's individual charm.

What was done in the other case?

The height of the nasal bridge was refined in a balanced way while the drooping tip cartilage was delicately lifted. In addition, tip support was added and the nasolabial angle was adjusted to carefully address nostril show.
